Backpackers guide to Ho Chi Minh City

Saigon or the Ho Chi Minh City is one of the most visited and most populated cities in the Southern part of Vietnam. People keep on coming in and out the Ho Chi Minh City. Tourists find this place a perfect spot, especially for backpackers. It does not matter if you are rick or not because everybody is welcome to visit the city. This spot is rich in history that is why it became famous to tourists from different parts of the world. Backpackers enjoy coming to the Ho Chi Minh City because it is more affordable and convenient in many ways.

Bui Vien, Pham Ngu Lao neighborhood

Many among backpackers go to Pham Ngu Lao. If you are coming from the airport, it is not necessary to get a private car. You can simply jump on a bus and go to the bus stop near the Ben Thanh Market. When you are already on the market, you will just need to walk and you will reach the backpacker street, such as Pham Ngu Lao. If you will arrive the airport at night, do not just get any taxi if you are going to a particular place, make sure that the taxi is from a reputable taxi company.

Bui Vien neighborhood

You do not need to stay in a luxurious hotel because there are many affordable hotels in the Ho Chi Minh City, which you can find along the streets of Pham Ngu Lao, in the Bui Vien and in the De Tham Street. The rooms from the hotels in these streets will just cost you 10 to 15 USD every night. It is not that cheap because it is fully air-conditioned, have television, hot water and with a free Wi-Fi. If you can’t afford this amount, you can still find a hostel that charges as low as 5USD per person.

You must be thinking about the food that you will eat. You won’t have a problem with the Vietnam food because there are restaurants around the Ho Chi Minh City, where you can get a meal around 3-5USD. You will also find a much cheaper food along the streets because there are many stalls there selling food. You may give the Pho or the Banh Mi a try. If you do not have a problem about food, you can easily adjust with Vietnamese delicacies.

If you are thinking about drinking, you can go to nightclubs, bars or on the street pubs along the Bui Vien Street. If you like drinking beer, you may try the Saigon Bia, which is a real famous drink in the Ho Chi Minh City. Drinking along the streets with other backpackers and local visitors are a cheaper way of spending your night. Many people also like drinking coffee, you may try the Ca Phe Da an iced coffee from the coffee shops along the streets of the Ho Chi Minh City.

Are you thinking about roaming around the Ho Chi Minh City to visit the tourist spots? You may visit the Reunification Palace because this reminds everybody about the history of Vietnam during the Wars. If you go inside the palace, you will see that Kings lived a luxurious life and it was preserved for people to see. From there, you may go to the Museum of War and the Cu Chi Tunnels. It is such a great place to experience how life is during the wars. Next, you may go to the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Post Office. These are good examples of the French architecture.
